In the center of the old port of Chania, in one of the most privileged locations, is the café/bar/restaurant DECK. It is a ground floor elongated building of the Turkish period, whose roof is entirely vaulted. During the period of the Turkish occupation, the building was used as an auxiliary room of a poorhouse.

The reconstruction-renovation of the space was carried out with respect to the building and the coastal landscape, but at the same time with a creative attitude, in order to serve the needs of the store to the maximum extent possible. An integral part of the design is the materials chosen, creating a palette with natural textures, such as wood and straw, which refer to the Greek Mediterranean landscape.

The core of the central concept is the bar, which is made of glossy green lacquer and covered with gold details and a marble bench. The roof of the shop was dressed with a special construction of natural oak in dark shade and thatch. The lighting fixtures were entirely designed by the design team and mirrors and wallpapers with tropical motifs were used to cover the walls.

The natural textures of the materials are in harmonious contrast with the intense colour tones that are chosen at certain points, with the dominant green colour (new bar), giving vitality and balance to the general feeling that the space exudes.
