JEFF BURGERS FRIES - SHAKES

Located on Daliani Street, the most vibrant culinary street in Chania, JEFF redefines the burger experience through a spatial narrative that draws references from American pop culture and the cinematic aesthetic of The Big Lebowski. The name of the space is a direct reference to the film's iconic protagonist, immediately introducing an unpretentious, playful, and unconventional mood.

The store was designed as a modern "American-style" self-service restaurant, where the dining experience remains simple and straightforward. Burgers, fries, and shakes are served on plastic trays, evoking the nostalgia of classic American diners and fast-food joints that are engraved in the collective memory of pop culture.

The architectural challenge was particularly demanding. It is a small, dual-aspect space with frontages on two busy streets and multiple functional requirements that had to coexist within a limited area. The floor plan was organized in a way that maximizes every square meter, precisely integrating the necessary supporting functions, staff and visitor flows, and service zones. The spatial permeability and visual continuity enhance the sense of movement and the open relationship with the urban fabric, transforming the store into a small urban passage full of energy.

Stainless steel surfaces, white and dark red square tiles, and selected elements of natural wood compose an environment that balances industrial cleanliness with a sense of familiarity. Linear red lighting elements and illuminated signs create an atmosphere that directly evokes images of American streets and neon diners, while glass block surfaces provide a subtle nod to the design language of American architecture from the second half of the 20th century.

JEFF does not attempt to nostalgically replicate a classic diner. Instead, it reinterprets the image of American fast-food through a contemporary, cinematic approach, creating a space with a strong identity, bold character, and the energy of American pop culture in the heart of Chania.
